Update ...

First of all ... Happy Mothers Day!!! We love you heaps and heaps and heaps XXOO

So I thought I would put a little update on what's going on with us :)

It's getting nice and warm here these day, already in the early 20's some days, so it's been nice to get some sun. We've moved out of The Lyric now, and we're staying with a friend until Monday when we move into our new place, which is the Kicking Horse Hostel, where we have gotten jobs as the summer managers! We're pretty happy about that, it's a really sweet deal. We live in there, we have the top floor to ourselves which is cool, and we get to live rent free! We don't get any monetary pay, but it works out fair, as we only have to do an hour or two of actual work a day, a bit of housekeeping keeping the place tidy and that's about it. We're really excited to move in there, it will a nice relief after the lyric, we get a nice deck and backyard after none at all in the Lyric and a KITCHEN!! Which we have missed a Lot. And just generally its a nice homey place. You can see pictures of it on the website, www.kickinghorsehostel.com but I don't think it has been updated in a while, so once we move in I'll take more photo's.

The managers that we are taking over are really nice people, they're a young couple as well, and they're real nature lovers, so they've explored quite a bit around the Golden area. The other day they took us on a hike they've been on before, to the Wapta Falls, which was really fun, it was about 20 min drive out of Golden, then a half an hour hike through the forest. They plan to take us on a couple more trips like this before they leave next week, and hopefully we can get a car soon and explore a bit ourselves.

So we'll be here for most of the summer and think we'll head home around Sep/Oct-ish.

Here's a few pictures of the falls and things ...

Oh and one of the other interesting things about moving into the hostel, is it's on the other side of town, next to a small part of forest between the railway and the highway. It's not far out of town at all, just across the tracks from the main part, but its far away enough that they get quite a bit of wild life. They get white tailed deer quite regularly, in the back yard, squirrels, lots of birds, once they saw a great horned owl, which apparently was huge, and the other night .... a couger! Ryan went outside around midnight to see if there were any deer and he saw it crouching on the train tracks, it stayed there a while then ran away, but how cool is that!

That's about all I have to say right now, hope you are all well

Love Courtney & Jared
